About the MCAHCC
The Mainland Council of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs (MCAHCC) was formed in March 1988 and chartered into the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its annual convention that year. At that time, the Council included `Ahahui `o Lili`uokalani HCC of Southern California in Cerritos, California (chartered 1975) `Ainahau o Kaleponi HCC in Orange County, California (chartered 1982), Hui Hawaii o Utah HCC in Salt Lake City, Utah (chartered 1983) and Po`e o Colorado HCC (organized 1987). Po`e o Colorado HCC later disbanded and was not chartered by the Association.
Over the years, MCAHCC has grown its number of component clubs that today include Las Vegas HCC in Las Vegas, Nevada (chartered 1989), Na Keiki o Hawaii HCC in Anchorage, Alaska (chartered 1990), Kauwahi `Anaina Hawaii HCC in Provo, Utah (chartered 1992), ‘Ahahui Kiwila o Hawai`i o San Diego in San Diego, California (chartered 1993), Pi`ilani HCC of Colorado (chartered 1998), Ke Ali`i Maka’ainana HCC in Virginia/Maryland. We are now fifteen strong representing Native Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart across the continent and Alaska. We welcome all Native Hawaiians wherever you live to join us to serve the Native Hawaiians within the community you live.
Since its early beginnings, the MCAHCC has continued the mission of the Association to serve with pono (justice and that which is right) in its advocacy of culture, health, economic development, education, social welfare and nationhood. Each component club works within their own community to carry out this mission. It is evidenced by their involvement in local events, sponsored cultural workshops, health forums, economic development projects, political advocacy towards nationhood and educational scholarships for youth.
